Shopping

Usually, when I go shopping I know pretty much what I need to get. The only thing for which I frequently make an exception is books (well, you never know when you might find a new book by a favourite author) but yesterday I managed to impulse-buy a baby rat. We'd gone to a big pet shop to see if they sold mice, since my last one died a few weeks ago. I was rather tempted by a hamster, but then we saw a little ratty face looking at us. I'd always kept rats in pairs before, but he was on his own anyway and looked a bit lonely.

He's incredibly sweet, with very fuzzy fur and is white with a light brownish-grey head and stripe down his back. The only problem is that we can't choose a name for him. I've never found it difficult to name pets before (and I've had a lot of them) but anything I think of, Chris doesn't like, and vice versa.

If anyone has any ideas, let me know. Hopefully you might be more helpful than the kids at my work. One of them suggested 'Jasmine'. I reminded her that it was a boy rat, so she thought for a bit, then came up with 'Miss Billy'. It's an interesting idea, but I think not...

Even if you don't, he'll be my Squishy...

Thank you all for your suggestions, and we have eventually decided on a name. Being the geeks that we are, he's called Jonas, after a character from Stargate SG1... It seems to suit him.

Damn your eyes, I didn't get a chance to list all the blatantly unsuitable names that i'd thought of. Can you not de-name him and call him Dillinger instead? I've always thought that would be a cool name for a rat. Or a child. Now you know why my ex picked the names of our boy....

D'oh. Thanks to Mort, I've just had a (bad) brainwave. Yes, it hurt. :P

Could've named him Zinger...then he'd be Rat Zinger...

Sorry. I'm tired...
