I may not be able to start posting Aussie photos yet (bloody computer...) but I had a few pictures taken on my phone that I thought you might like. They made me laugh, anyway.

This is a price label on a shelf of chocolatey Christmas treats. I suspect that it might be somwhat juvenile of me to still be sniggering at the word 'balls'. Oh well.


I found this very 1970s kitchen appliance in a charity shop. I managed to resist buying it. ;-)

Does it make your food fancy? Is it only for using when preparing an especially posh meal?

Yesterday, at the craft fair, I found these...


This was a leaflet handed round all the stallholders, advertising another event. We wondered if they'd meant to put 'bizarre' instead of 'bazaar' as some sort of joke, but it seems really unlikely.

This sign made me laugh for ages.

I have a lovely mental image of a toddlers' AGM, where it's perfectly normal to hold your breath until you go blue if the committee doesn't agree with you, and that winds up with sippy cups of juice and a nap for all attendees.

I don't have a photo of the last thing I have to share with you today. The local council has been doing various public consultations recently, discussing several proposals about parking, new building permits and so on. They came round the craft fair, handing out questionnaires. Most of the letter was fairly straightforward, until I got to the last question.

4. Linlithgow Palace

Linlithgow Palace is an iconic building. Do you believe it should be

* Left in its current conditon as a glorious ruin

* Be partially re-roofed

* Be restored to as near its original conditon as possible before being ravaged by fire and becoming a building that tells the History of Scotland

Now, firstly, I have no idea what the italics are for. What is 'a glorious ruin'? In that context it makes no sense.
The main problem, though, is their lack of understanding that punctuation is their friend. Based on its last sentence, one can only assume that the authorities plan to rebuild the Palace then burn it back down again.

Actually, I'm assuming that that's not what they plan to do. Councils here aren't known for their ability to effectively spent taxpayers' money...

Things I have Learnt This Weekend - 1st & 2nd Nov. '08

1) Parsnip and chorizo soup is quite possibly the nicest soup in the world.

2) Apparently Guitar Hero is a lot more difficult than it looks.

3) One cannot work an iPod whilst wearing gloves, however, one can work an iPod with one's nose.

4) People look at you as if you have gone mad if you are listening to BBC Radio 4 comedy shows on the aforementioned iPod, most likely because you are sitting on a bus giggling.
